Imaginal Exposure Therapy Online
The purpose of this study was to investigate if the use of imaginal exposure therapy can be helpful in reducing eating-related anxiety. Participants in the study will be asked to complete a phone screening, brief education about imaginal exposure therapy, and questionnaires before they began participation in the study. Participants were asked to think and write about an eating related fear or anxiety. Exposure therapy is beneficial for the reduction of anxiety, and as such is an expected benefit of participation in this study. Exposure therapy has been shown to help identify and decrease underlying fears that other types of therapy cannot access.

In-Vivo Imaginal Exposure Therapy
The purpose of this study was to investigate if the use of imaginal exposure therapy can be helpful in reducing eating-related anxiety. Participants came to the EAT Lab & Clinic at the University of Louisville where they were asked to complete a brief screening, brief education about imaginal exposure therapy, and questionnaires to determine whether they could continue to participate in the therapy portion of the study. Participants then worked with a therapist to address eating related fears and will receive up to 10 free sessions of therapy (valued at $1,750).

Daily Mood Study
The purpose of this study was to investigate daily changes in mood and behavior in order to develop symptom models of depression and its co-morbid conditions. Participants were asked to complete a pre-screening questionnaire to determine eligibility, followed by a phone-based screening interview, an online questionnaire, and to answer questions sent to their phone four times a day for three weeks, followed by one more online questionnaire after completing the mobile-app based portion of the study. Participants were also asked to complete a final online questionnaire at 6-month follow-up. Participants were paid up to $100 for participating in this study.

COVID-19 Daily Impact Study
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of COVID-19 pandemic related stress and isolation on daily functioning (e.g., eating and physical activity). In this study, participants were given a link to complete several online questionnaires, which ask about behaviors and thoughts. After these questionnaires were completed, participants would receive instructions on how to download an application on a phone or tablet that asked questions 4 times a day for 10 days. These questions asked about emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and lasted about 5 minutes each. Six months and one year after this, participants received a link to complete the follow-up questionnaires online. After the COVID-19 pandemic has subsided, participants will receive a link to complete the final follow-up questionnaires.

Mindful Self-Compassion Study (Online)

Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires and to attend 8 free mindful self-compassion group sessions. Group sizes will range between 5-10 participants. This is a paid study, with an opportunity to receive a $10 gift card in addition to the free mindful self-compassion sessions.

Network EMA Study (Online)
The purpose of this study is to better understand how to apply a data modelling technique to an individual’s “real-world” data (collected via smartphone) to personalize treatment for individuals with an eating disorder. This study may lead to improvements in personalized treatment for individuals with an eating disorder, which is why your participation is so important to us.
